That is the question I am asking myself right now. Another ‘hobby’ is the item in question. You see, I have dabbled in MANY forms of craft, and have settled in to sewing and cross stitching. I have starting supplies for several different mediums.
A loooong time ago, a very nice lady from a forum sent me an older punch needle she had and some spools of thread to try it out. I have tried it a few times, but got discouraged b/c I didn’t have a frame that wouldn’t allow the fabric to slip. I had to keep adjusting it. I wasn’t sure I was working the needle right, and it looked a lot different than the ones I saw online, so I ordered a new one with interchangeable tips. The thread seemed to move much easier in the needle, but I still had slipping with the fabric. I put that box of thread in the cupboard, and decided to try it out again later.
I’ve talked about my great neighbor/friend several times on my blog. Most recently when she made this for our dogs.
A few months ago, she mentioned that she had seen a thing online called needle punch, and that it looked neat. I told her I had one and she was welcome to try it out! I sent her the box of threads and she took it home and tried it. She messed with it, her daughter messed with it…they seemed to be able to ‘get it’. Why couldn’t I? She said her mom had a ton of thread like that and she was going to bring it to me. Oh, okay. She brought it to me last week. 2 boxes of thread along with my needle. I thanked her for it and set it back in my craft area. I had peeked into the first box and saw this.
Ah yes…see all that sparkle and shine? Looked like there were a few good colors in there, but most of that was heading to GW. It definitely needed sorted out. Then I opened the second box and saw THIS!
I was shocked and totally expecting another box like the first! Now, THIS is a treasure and totally something that I could work with! lol Look at all those browns, tans, grays, greens, reds….and all kind of coordinated! Then I finally looked at the outside of the box.
Well, I guess that answers my question :-)

I know the feeling...do we need another hobby? lol But how can't we at least try? I mean it may just happen to be your most favorite craft EVER and you wouldn't know if you didn't try...:D
I have had that happen to me in the past...People gave me stuff because it was craft stuff and they assumed that meant I used all kinds. I went through and tossed what I wouldn't use (Now, I wish I had that box of zippers! lol)Some of it wasn't me but it has come in handy for projects for friends and family :)
Have a great day!

Nice threads. I use floss myself, but I did find a kit in a thrift with punches and thread like that, but haven't tried it yet.
If you want, you can send me a photo of the top and back of your punch and I can see what you are doing wrong or maybe you are being too hard on yourself?
I use the no slip hoops sometimes, but I prefer to use a frame.

I see the box is Labled Sanford Fla...I think that's where Linda Tittle(quaintgal on the board) lives...
