Just wanted to put a quick post up this morning before I head to work. I feel that I need to take a little break from blogging for a bit. I sit here at my computer in the dining room (not where it belongs) and my craft stuff piled in totes around me (definitely not where it belongs) and feel the need to let you know that I will not be creating my usual things for a little while. I will be creating in a different sense…
Yes, I am finally painting my eyesore kitchen! lol It really was not an eyesore- at least not until more recently. When I first did it, I was unsure of the color, but it warmed it up and I got used to it. My tastes have evolved (again) in the past year, and now I want a more simple look in there. I went from white walls with hunter green trim and an apple stencil around the top, to warm gold with light trim 2 years ago. Now I am going back to light walls and a bit darker trim again. And I will stencil again too- just not apples this time :-) I didn’t get home from the paint store until 3 on Saturday, but I got the ceiling done and trim around the kitchen/ DR doorway, the east facing windows, and the backdoor. I painted until 10:30 p.m. that night. Could have possibly gotten more done, but dear hubs decided that was the right time to tear the (very) old carpeting out of the other room. Let me tell you…you don’t realize how dirty a house is until you pull up old carpeting! It was a gross dirty job- which thankfully, my boys were willing to help him with. There is linoleum down on most of that floor, so that has made cleanup pretty easy. Unfortunately, there is not on some, and we have discovered that we will need to replace some of the existing subfloor back by the sliding glass doors. Ugh. So yes, half my downstairs is torn up and will remain so for a little while. It is not exciting…to say the least.
What is exciting is that I scored an awesome deal this weekend! It involves this…
Sorry, just a sneak peek :-) There is actually 2 of them! My fabulous and best neighbor in the world found it and let me know about it. I went down to see hers and came home with a roll top desk too! She just wanted it out of her entryway- said she couldn’t get anyone to take it. Ummm….yes, you can! It is going to have to live in the basement for now.
I’m getting ready to head out to work right now, but will be off for the next 2 days- which will be spent painting. And since everything is all torn up anyhow, might as well get in some spring cleaning too. I will try to get on here during breaks in the action to check out blogs and facebook, but I probably won’t be posting much for the next week or so. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed right now with all we need to get done, but I will just have to focus on what the finished projects will look like and go from there.
I did get a wonderful package from my great online friend, Sandy. Here is one thing she sent me- pics of the other wonderful things will follow soon…as soon as I can find them in this mess! lol
Until next time….wish me luck- and sanity!
