Still here, but still not done

Hope everyone is enjoying some of this beautiful Spring weather!  It has been beautiful and sunny and warm the past few days here in Ohio and we have been thoroughly enjoying it.   It has put a little pause on the kitchen redo, though, and I really need to snap back into it and get it done!  I guess the major part was the painting, and it is mostly finished.  I still need to 2nd coat the doors.  I talked hubs into changing out all the electrical outlets and switches (which were very old and BLACK- yuk) and he just has one section left to do.  Our old over-the-range microwave no longer works and it still needs to come out.  And I still have not decided on curtains.  I’m getting used to the nakedness in there…which is not a good thing- it is letting me put off the decision :-)  I love seeing this every morning…

The way I had it dressed before with a valance and cafe curtains, I didn’t notice this so much.  So I am kicking around different ideas for the windows.

I still need to decide on a stencil, but for now, I’m just trying out different arrangements for on top of the cupboards.  As soon as I get the curtains, microwave situation, and cupboards decorated, I will be posting pictures.  I have a few other storage projects planned for in there also, but those will come in time.

The subfloor problem has been taken care of in the other room, but the carpet is still in the garage.  The nice weather hit, and well, I really don’t want to be stuck in the house working on that either.  But I am getting impatient with my room not being put back together.  They are predicting rain for the next couple of days, so I’m crossing my fingers!

In the meantime, while not working in the kitchen, I have been piddling around with a few little things that needed to be finished.  I bought this birdfeeder a few weeks ago at Dollar General for $6.  It was unfinished so I painted it a nice old blue color and stained it.  I hung it outside the front window in one of the pines.

You can see our garden in the background.  We have been considering taking the tiller to it, but we know it’s too soon yet.  We have been cleaning up the flower beds and also cleaning up around the woodpile out back- raking and burning the loose bark laying on the ground out there.

Other than all that, I have just been working and stitching and making more plans for more projects :-)  I’m not too stressed out about the current ones not being finished….yet.  I’d love to have those 2 rooms rooms DONE so I can move on to some other projects while the boys are still in school.  I work much better without distraction :-)

I do have some exciting news!  I won 2 giveaways last week!  The first one was given by Angie from Love the Prim Look.  She had a drawing for her fans on Facebook and I won 2 strands of 20 count Americana dipped rice lights- and she sent a grubby candle bulb along with it too!  I told her to send me something spicey scented and she scented them in Cinnamon- which I could smell through the box!

They are the cutest little lights and I just love them!  Thanks Angie!  I’m still trying to decide how to display them.

I was checking my email one day and found one that I had missed.  I didn’t recognize the sender, but the subject was giveaway winner.  Hmmm….I opened it and saw that it said something like, “Not sure if you saw it on my blog, but you are the winner of my Spring giveaway….”  It was from Anne from Seasons of the Past!  I’m pretty sure I read every time she posts, so I went to the post that the winner was announced in and realized that I actually HAD read it and never realized that the ‘Christine’ mentioned as the winner could be me! LOL  I remember seeing the picture of her mom at the end of the post!  I emailed her my mailing addy right away- I am super excited about this one!  I will certainly post pics of that when it comes :-)

Well I’d better get around to figuring out dinner.  The boys went fishing this morning while I was at work, and they say they caught dinner for us.  They are in the garage filleting them right now, but I guess I’ll have to see how much is actually there and if it will be enough for us all.  My motto is “You catch it, you cook it”  so I may not be making dinner, after all  ;-)
