Afterschool, I took the boys up to my favorite thrift. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there, and I needed a fix! As always, I hit the wooden item section downstairs, first. Not too much today. I usually find quite a few items, and my little cart is almost full with wooden items by the time I come up from the basement. Today was half off yellow and orange tags, and mostly what was left that I might have bought was blue tags. So I left a few items there. Here are a few things I picked up.
This paper plate holder. It was $2.50, but it’s oak and pretty darn heavy! I can do something with that.
This tote was $1.50. Not bad, but sure does need a paint job! The rolling pin was $6.00, but was half off. I love the red handled ones!
This crock is missing its lid, but I love the blue bands! It was made in ‘somewhere ville’…lol The stamp on the bottom is halfway off the edge of the bottom (it was mis-stamped), and all I can see is "…P. Co.” on the first line, “…ville, O.” on the second. Oh well, for $2 I can live with it- and if I ever come across another with the same stamp, I will know. I did see another blue banded crock behind the counter (where they put the more expensive items) and I could see that they had it turned so you couldn’t really see the ugly geese painted on it. They had it marked $15, and I wish now, that I had asked to take a better look at it to see who it was made by. It was about the same height as this one.
This little tart burner was adorable and I knew right away that I had to have it- IF it was made in the USA. I see a lot of cute sponge ware, but a lot is not made here. I’m kind of funny about that now…I will NOT buy pottery made in China or anywhere else. I picked this up and turned it over….yep. Olde Cape Cod Stoneware. Yes…and for $2.50, it went right in my cart.
I found this wooden picture. It’s not anything special (and my picture taking was not great either), but I was just drawn to it. I only paid 60 cents for it, but I just could not put it down. It’s hard to explain, but sometimes, when I see something, it will ‘speak’ a feeling to me. This one was ‘old’ and ‘comfort’ actually. I turned it over and it has a label on the back that says “Winter In The Country” and ‘Sleighs Arriving at the Inn” Someone name Patti signed and dated it 1967. The edges are sanded uneven- that’s why it looks misshapen in the pic.
My best most favorite thing of the day! I found this crock also- for $2.50! Yee hoo! lol I love these! It has USA stamped around the bottom and also 40 OZ.- at least I think that’s what the size is. The letters and numbers are stamped into the pottery without ink, so the 4 (?) is hard to make out.
All in all, not a bad thrifting trip. I’m deciding that it is better to just come home with a few more favorite pieces, instead of collecting a bunch of stuff I won’t really need. I will use every piece I bought today- most in my kitchen. I am going to get the paint this weekend for it and hope to have it done by next weekend. At least hope to have it painted. I have to change my storage in there. The bakers rack I have had almost as long as we’ve been married is neither attractive in the primitive sense OR functional. I hope to build a cupboard for that spot, and the other corner (those are the only corners in there) has one shelf, but I have a plan for that corner too. Well, that’s it for now. I don’t think I will have any finishes up for sale this weekend. Still have to finish off a few orders to get caught up. I think I might just be happy to paint my kitchen :-)

Pretty good finds you have! I bet the crock is RRP in Ohio (same as Roseville that Karen referred to). Can't wait to see pics of your tote. Love the wooden picture.

I have a crock like that without the lid and it is nice to keep sharp knives in with blades down..You got some really nice items and I hope the town we might move to has some neat resale shops.
Thanks for sharing all your great finds :)
I haven't been able to thrift much this winter, love finding goodies to decorate with or redo.

The banded crock was made by the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company (RRPCO) of Roseville, Ohio. It's frequently confused with Roseville Pottery. RRPCo closed in 2005.
Very nice thrift finds Christine!
Seems you have been very lucky!
