And the winner is…..

Morning all!  I just had Gannon draw the name for the winning entry for my giveaway.  He is quite a sight- freshly out of bed, sleep still in his eyes, hair is sticking up on end…I wish I could take a picture!  Unfortunately, I took my camera to work with me yesterday and got a little carried away taking pics of the baby squirrels running around and ran my batteries out.

There were so many entries for this, and such wonderful comments from everyone!  Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and follow along with me :-)  I always see people say, ‘I wish I could send something to each one who entered,’ and it’s true for me too!

Without further delay, the winner is…

Congratulations!  Send me your mailing address and I will get this out to you.

It’s been rainy for the past 2 days and it looks like the sun is going to shine for the next few.  Hopefully we can get some things done that we have been trying to work on.  I know I will be spending  most of today getting the house cleaned.  It always needs a good cleaning, after the boys are home all weekend- even more so when it’s been raining outside!

I have to share pics of the baby squirrel yesterday!  He was the cutest, fluffiest, most adorable little butterball and I wanted to take him home!  I looked 0ut on my client’s patio and saw him sitting there eating a peanut.

Then he went and sat under the chair and kept eating…

Isn’t he the sweetest?  We’ve been seeing younger ones out there, but none nearly this small, and one day on a walk around the block, we saw babies this size out back by another big tree.  I was able to open the sliding door and stick my camera out to get a few pictures without spooking him.  An adult squirrel came near, and Baby was not happy.  I thought I could hear the adult squirrel grunting at him.

April2010 515  Then I got brave and decided to step out on to the patio to see if he was scared by me.April2010 520

Nope!  He just sat there and ate away.  But guess what?  It wasn’t the adult squirrel doing the grunting…it was him!  He started grunting a little at me because he was not finished eating, and he didn’t like me being a mere 3 feet from his peanut! lol  I took a few more pictures and then slipped back inside to let him finish.  I love his little Thumper feet!   SOOOOOO stinkin cute!

I love watching the squirrels out there.  Some of them are pretty brave and will come within 3 feet (and even as close as 1 foot away a few times) of me to get a peanut.  I will just stand really still and they creep up a little at a time keeping an eye on me.  There have been a few times that I have thought one was sizing me up and was thinking of running up my leg. lol  My client asked me what I would do if one did that.  My answer, “Scream.”  lol

Sorry no prim pictures today…like I said, dead camera batteries.  I will have to pick up some new ones today.  Before I forget to post them, I took some pictures when I went on my hike in the ‘backyard’ the other day.  This is what you can find if you go out hiking at my place…

Our own personal waterfall!  It’s hard to tell the size by the pictures, but I’d say that it is 4 1/2 – 5 feet tall.  It’s really very beautiful with all the slate everywhere.  The big rock in this next picture wasn’t always there.  We had a major flash flood about 5 or 6 years ago that totally changed the entire landscape along this creek.  It moved boulders that were half the size of a small car, and took out trees in it’s path.

More moved rocks…

These were left jutting up from the bank…

Unfortunately, a lot of debris like this was washed down into our friend’s back yard during this flood.  They live just downstream from here, and the creek runs right beside their house.  It jammed up under a bridge they had in their backyard, and totally re-routed itself right through their backyard and garage!  It was devastating for them- and a lot of other folks that lived in this area.  They had deep holes left from the running water, very large rocks/ small boulders, tree trunks…everything that would wash out from the woods was in their back yard. I think they ended up having to excavate their backyard to get grass to grow again.  Rocks and silt from the creek  bed covered their yard.  They had a water line on the back of their house that was probably 2-3 feet off the ground.  Their lawn tractor was washed out of their shed and ended up 1/4 mile down creek.  It’s hard to believe after all of that destruction that this place is still so beautiful.

The sound of the water running down the rocks is just amazing.  Water drips from the rocks on the hillside…

Wish I could add sound to this!  lol  It’s a beautiful place to spend some time with your feet on the cool slate on a hot summer day.  Hope you enjoyed the little tour :-)
