A few things off the list

I have been working on a few of the items I got at the thrift last week.

This….

was painted and stained and is now this…

Of course, my camera is not cooperating this morning.  It turned out darker than it’s showing here.  I haven’t decided what I will use it for- yet.  Maybe put it on the table in the kitchen to hold our apples and bananas.  I wish the liner that came with it was not bright red because I would have loved to use it also.

And this duck rack…April2010 101

is now this…

Calvin is all about painting things, and he wanted to start it right away when we got home Friday.  He chose a tan color (it’s showing a lot more gold here) and put a first coat on it, but then lost interest.  I second coated it and then stained it for him.  It turned out pretty nice.  I told him that I wouldn’t ‘primitize’ it since it was for their room. lol  I don’t think they would have cared if I did.

I have a few other pieces started, but I had to work the last days, so they are not completely done yet.  I dropped one piece and then had to spend over an hour re-nailing and gluing it back together.  Ugh. I finally got it back together and sprayed it.

We started working outside over the weekend.  I am not ready for that yet!  I have so much to do inside still!  But I am so ready for a certain outside project to finally be done!  It’s been a looooonggg time coming!  Gannon was helping me in the flower gardens (me with the shovel, he with his trucks and tractors) and he wanted to plant some of the flower seeds that I have.  I told him I had to wait until I get some bagged manure.  Of course THAT lead to a long explanation! lol  I haven’t put any in for so long, and I think I really need to this year.  I think it’s still to early for starting them outside, so I have to find some time to fill a few trays and make some starts indoors today. I have a slew of laundry to catch up on, the house needs picked up, I have some tweaking I want to try in the kitchen, I have things I want to build….it goes on and on so I’d better get at it!

One more thing.  Gannon  is in 1st grade, and they have a story each week to bring home and read and then write a sentence about what they read that night.  We were reading his book the other night, and I looked up to see a promo on t.v. for the new Nightmare on Elm Street movie that is coming out- first time I heard about a new one.  I remember when I was a teenager, Freddy Krueger was THE ultimate!  I LOVED those movies!  (When I was in 7th grade, at Halloween, my volleyball team went to a haunted house at in a nearby town that was actually on an Elm Street.  We had a blast!)  I’m not so much into the blood and gore type movies anymore.  Gannon was watching it too, and asking me about his ‘sharp fingers’. lol  We went back to reading, and he turned the page in his book and I about died!  This is no lie- look at this picture!

Okay, so this is supposed to be an old man from Peru with wrinkly skin, but he sure does resemble Freddy with his red and gray/black striped sweater, black hat, and wrinkly burnt skin!  It was creepy, eerie, and hilarious- all at the same time!  Hmmm….now that I am looking at this… his fingers on his left hand do look a little sharp, don’t they? lol

Love the popcorn bowl make over.
Why don't you try dipping the liner in a grunge mixture of coffee...maybe it will darken it some....but just hang it on the line to dry.
