I’ve decided not to delay these pictures anymore. There are many more things I would like to do in here, but who knows how long it will take for me to complete them! Instead, I guess I will just have more pics to show along the way with ‘improvements’ that will come with time.
I searched back in my blog, and I swear I put pics on here of my kitchen after I painted it gold. Can’t find any and I don’t have any on my computer either. So you will have to use your imagination to imagine what it looked like as a whole with the old color. Here is one corner that I do have a pic of…
Okay…so the whole thing was THAT color. That was my little ‘farm shelf’ lol. It was quite bright. Now it looks like this…
You can see, I still have not decided on a curtain fabric yet! lol Part of the reason I have been delaying! I’m enjoying the sunshine right now though :-) I put up a peg rail on this end but have not gotten it decorated yet. Still moving things around. The bakers rack (regrettably) had to come back in. I will be on the lookout for a cupboard to put here or I will have to add ‘build one’ to my to-do list. The shelf by the backdoor, for now, looks like this…
I tried to work on it this weekend, but my building skills are not up to par. lol I need more wood to make a built in cupboard under this shelf. I don’t have the right sized boards I need to complete this project the way I want it to look. A trip to Home Depot is on the agenda soon.
It is too hard to get a good picture right now b/c it’s so bright outside and my camera will not use the flash in this area. My friend Sandy, made this shelf that I hung beside the sink. I put the beeswax sugar cone that I won in a giveaway on it for now, but once I thought about it, I realized that with full sun there, it may start to melt. I’ll have to tweak a little more :-) I moved the little candle shelf that Sandy made me and hung it on the other side of the sink…
I also want to get a witches hat light for over the sink. I’m in no hurry- I’ve kind of grown fond of this fixture through the years :-) but it, like all the light fixtures, does not match the feel I want in there. Especially the ceiling fan. That will NOT be coming out- we do not have central air so it is a necessity in the summer. I’ve been thinking of ways to help that blend in a little better, but haven’t tried anything out with it yet.
I’m pretty happy with how the cupboard decorating came out. I love to come in here and look up at these things I love.
Not thrilled with the top of the fridge, but that’s what tweaking is all about! lol I also haven’t decided if I am going to keep the canisters or not. I am not using them for anything up there. They will probably go.
Here is the pantry door and the basement door which also needs a curtain. That walk thru leads to the bathroom and my t.v. and craft room. The pantry door was wood colored to match the cupboards and I just could not decide if I should paint it to match my trim or not. I emailed a few friends and they helped me decide that it needed painted to bring the trim color around to this side of the room.
Here is the cupboards above the stove side of the kitchen. I only took a pic of the tops b/c the rest of that side is not quite finished yet. (another reason for the delay in posting :-)
I was trying to decide if I should stencil around the top of the room or not, but decided to live with it like this for awhile. I kind of like the simple look of it all. Looking at it now, I can’t believe it was all once that mustard color! It is quite a difference and OH SO much more pleasing to my eye now :-) What do you think of it all? Suggestions?
I never got around to posting for Easter, so I hope everyone had a good one! We had beautiful weather and the kids really enjoyed the annual egg hunt at my mom’s on Easter day. Calvin made the decision not to hunt eggs this year. *Sigh* at 14 he is too old for that now. He did help hide them amongst my mom’s yard and gardens for the younger ones….
Above, Gannon has his serious ‘egg hunting face’ on. lol My sister’s boyfriend’s son stuck close to Gannon- it was his first egg hunt with us.
Brady, below, is getting too good at this. His bag was half full within the first few minutes of hunting- I had to make him slow down so the younger ones got some!
My nieces…
My mom and sister giving my niece some clues for where to look…
Time to check out the loot!
That is my mom’s cat and her dog Coco on the bridge…they were having a stand-off with my grandma’s dog, Pebbles.
(Valerie…this one is for you)
Here is Coco in her ‘spot’, under the egg tree, looking pretty :-)
That’s it for now. I went to the local flea market on Friday and bought a flat of strawberries that are sitting in the refrigerator, waiting to be made into jam. I also have been working on my 3 year anniversary giveaway! It’s coming up on the 16th, so keep an eye out for that in the coming week!

I love the new color scheme. Did you build the peg rack? I would like to put one around the room in my living room but don't know how to go about it.
I think everything is lovely! I love your kitchen! Is that a schnauzer I see in one of your pics? Such a cutie. Your Easter lillies are beautiful!
I love the color of the paint and it certainly looks great in your kitchen. Love how you have the peg rack too!
