Before and After

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but it seems like I’ve been busy, busy, busy….but not much to show for it.  First and foremost on my mind is the fact that the boys are done with this school year after tomorrow!  I can’t believe another school year has come and gone.

I have 2 before and afters to show you.  Nothing big, but I’m liking them both!

While it was raining on Saturday, I decided I would work on the front porch.  I moved the furniture, swept down the cobwebs that had gathered already this spring, and washed some of the siding.  I had purchased some of the hangers that you are supposed to be able to slide up under the siding to hang stuff on…yeah right.  I bought those last summer and have tried several times to make them work, but I just cannot get them to hook into place!  I want to be able to hang some things, but it’s just not working…and it’s very aggravating!  lol  So I need to go to plan B.  Which I don’t have yet, but I’m working on it :-)

I have this snowman board that I painted years ago.  I put it on my front porch for the winter season….

I already have so much winter stuff to store upstairs, so I wanted to try to make this a dual-season item.  He was still on the porch (hiding behind the chair in the corner), and when I was moving stuff  and sweeping, I took him inside and got out the paint.  This is what I came up with for his reverse side…

Pretty great, right?  Now it can stay outside all year round!  I would love to show you the rest of the porch, but the reason I can’t kind of ties in with my other before and after photo.

This is our honkin-huge 200+ lb t.v that I have hated from the moment we brought it home.  I hated this thing, and it has always hated us…

Dec2009 047

About a year after we bought it (just past the warranty date- of course) it decided to develop a mind of it’s own.  It began to randomly turn on and off.  And when it would turn off, you would have to push the ‘channel’ button beside the power button to turn it back on.  Sit back in the chair….click….off again.  On again…off again.  REALLY SUPER annoying!  It would throw it’s fit for a day or so (during which we would watch t.v. in the other room) and then it would be fine…sometimes for months.  I tried everything…unplugging it for a day, changing the batteries in the remote, vacuuming the vents on the back….nothing seemed to settle it.  Well, it has been fine for the better part of a year now, and the other day it started it’s fit again.  I had enough.  I had Hubs lug it out to the porch last night.  I would love to go out and buy a new flat model, but with vacation coming up, I can live with an old t.v we had, for now.   It looks teeny compared to the other one, but I’m liking it.

I moved a jar of flags that I painted a few years ago to on top of the t.v. and I put a few barn roof slate tiles in my carrier.  I also had a space beside the t.v to sit a little set of drawers that I had found at the TS a few months ago.  When we finally get one of the new flat models, I will be moving the whole room around and the cedar chest will get a makeover and then finally be able to function as storage again.  I just got to the point of hating an entertainment center, so we got rid of ours and I improvised and used the cedar chest for the t.v.

That’s about all I have to show for now.  I have one order left from my selling blog to finish up and get mailed out and I hope to be able to list some new offerings later this week.  Did I mention we are going on vacation in a few weeks?  lol  I’m trying to decide what to get together to sell, but I’m looking to make a little extra $$ to take with us.  I’m thinking of a $20 or $25 and under sale, but I’ll have to see what I can come up with.  I’m thinking I may have a mixture of cross stitch, made over items, and other things.  I doubt that I will be taking orders on most because of the time factor, so most will probably be first come first serve.  If you are not a follower of my selling blog, click here so you will be notified when I post the goods.  I’ll try to post here, on this blog, later this week to let you know when I’ll be listing.  Until then, I will be digging through my stash of TS items, painting, sewing, and stitching!

I love how you decorated your
porch, and what a good idea to
paint the back of the snowman.
We had a tv once that every once
in awhile, would go black, except
for an inch in the middle of the
screen, we would have to beat on
it some and it would come back,
it sure was a pain! I will be
checking out your goodies!

Great idea about the snowman..we have a t v in the den that is doing the same as yours only stays off for anywhere from an hour to 2 or 3 weeks. Don't want to buy a new one now...just some more to move...am having a sale in my blog now so I can get the vet bill paid and then save up to move back home to the midwest..I never should have left..could have went on 2 or 3 cruises for what the move cost.
