Right after this post :) Not too many comments on my last post (for those that did, Thanks :) so I’m guessing you are tiring of my incessant posting about the ducks. lol It’s just been so cold and windy and today it’s raining again, so my creativity is being smooshed a little…by this…
Timmy is still doing good. I’m actually going to head to the farm store later to grab a bag of food for him. He’s living on bread, but if he’s going to grow up to be a proper duck, he’s going to need a little ‘more’. I hadn’t thought about it, but I realized today that he spent his first 2 days on water, and he hasn’t been on any for a few days now. So, seeing as my sink was dirty anyhow and in desperate need of a scrubbing, I filled it with a little water and put him in. He was a bit frightened at first- he’s still getting used to us. It takes him a little while to relax. But soon enough, he was dipping and rolling…
I did kind of bad with the pictures…sorry. It was really cute. Mama never returned, although the male landed on the pond for just a little while yesterday. He seemed to be calling for her- looking for her to be there. I’m sure he will find her again, eventually. I’m starting to feel a little bad that Timmy is spending the majority of his life in a cardboard box, and every time we go to pick him up he freaks out. I need to find him some better accommodations. He needs to be able to ‘see’ us throughout the day and evening and not only when we are holding him. I called my neighbor (who has a ‘magic shed’- you can find almost anything in there :) and she said she thinks she might have a few cages for me to choose from. I have a big dog kennel, but that will be better for later on. For now, I think I need a bird cage- which she thinks she might have in the ‘magic shed’. I considered putting him in with my cockatiel for a few minutes of socializing, but J.D. was not going to have anything to do with him. He was hissing at him when I took Timmy over by his cage.
And as for the name Timmy… I only had one guess in the comments, and she guessed it was because of Tiny Tim. He is rather tiny, but no. I thought it would be kind of funny to call him Timmy because of something I do with our beagle, Sadie. She is a very vocal dog. If she wants something, she will bark in your face (okay, she’s really short so it’s not directly in your face, but it feels like it lol)….and she will continue to bark until you do it for her. For instance, if she wants to go out, she will whine a little, do a little dance, and once you look at her she will start to bark.…and when you get up to go let her out, she will continue to bark alllllll the way to the door. It’s annoying. lol When she whines and does the little dance, you know it’s coming as soon as you look at her. And God forbid you talk to her…it’s 10 times worse and much louder! So sometimes when I am playing around with her, I will just start talking to make her bark-like we are having a conversation. Then one day, it popped into my head…’What’s that Sadie? (BARK! BARK!) You say Timmy fell down the well? (BARK! BARK!BARK!) He did? (BARK!) We better go save him! (BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! etc. lol) -A popular scene from Lassie. So when the boys rescued this duck from the well, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to call him Timmy :)
He watched Biggest Loser with me last night and found his favorite place to snuggle was up on my shoulder, under my hair. So cute. Can I say that enough? I probably have!
Today looks like another cloudy day with more possible showers, but the weather man seems to be promising the temps are going to stay warmer. I hate to complain about the rainy cold weather here, when families are losing their homes and some losing their lives with the horrible tornados that have been hitting the midwest. So I will be thankful for the rain and the cooler temperatures, for now, and take it as an opportunity to get some things finished in the house. I have a few makeovers I need to get working on and the house needs cleaned (always), so I’m hoping to be able to get something better on here soon for you all to see!

Oh Christine how sweet....I love how you are neurting Timmy (did I spell that right???) Oh well, doesn't matter...I love this post! And I love how you got Timmys name too...lol
Our Lola kitty sounds like your Sadie...when she want's to be fed she does the same thing. I have to be very careful making eye contact or talking to her because when I do....it's all over...MEOWING LIKE CRAZY AND WALKING UNDER YOUR FEET AT THE SAME TIME LOOKING RIGHT UP IN YOUR FACE asking DO YOU HEAR ME!!!!!
Hugs, Karen
Oh my!! He is beyond cute!!! I can understand why you are attached to him. Good luck with him and Congratulations to you sons for saving him!!!!!!
He is so very cute and I love looking at ducks!!....but wouldn't have the first clue how to properly care for one let alone a baby one!....I am not a fan of taking an animal out of its natural habitat and placing it in a cage....hopefully he'll be able to survive on his own once he gets bigger!

Love your post!
Timmy is very cute and what a great name for him :) The story fits PERFECTLY! lol
Last year we were in Tractor Supply when they get in the peeps and ducks. The guy was telling us how when he was a kid he won a baby duck at the Fair. Imagine a baby duck instead of a STUFFED animal that you get today? He said he took him home and cared for him and how that duck followed him around like a dog. He said they can be trained and everything. Cute story, but not so cute when you're 6 year old is looking at you like this would be a GREAT idea! lol Maybe Timmy will just fit in and be like that little duck was with that guy :) I hope things work out for him!

Oh Timmy is such a doll! How sweet of you to take care of him! Thats just wonderful!!!! I want one now lol! No! just kidding! But, very sweet of you!
I was thinking an outdoor pen with a little plastic pond to play in. Then you can bring in him at night to be safe. We had a lame bunny once and I cared for him, till he could walk again. Then each day I bought him out with me to play in the yard. He always stuck around, then one day he hopped off and didn't come back. I was worried, but then for a few years I would see him in the yard, enjoying the sun. I knew it was him, because he had a bad leg and hopped funny.

Timmy is such a sweetie! I love when you put a duck in the sink with a little water and they stamp their feet around! So sweet! I never tire from hearing about animals!

I love the pictures of Timmy. It brings back memories when we had our farm and we raised 4 baby ducks. I would fill up the bathtub and close the shower curtain and let them go. Was so fun to see them dive and go round in circles so fast. I had a goose that would follow me and even jump up on my lap when she got older. She was a most affectionate bird. I miss her....
I look forward to more pictures and reading about the Adventures of Timmy! :)
*hugs*

Baby duck starter food at Tractor Supply. I believe it is Damour in a yellow bag. It has vit's and min's. A bird cage would work great. Before the bunny hutch and the count had grown I used a small bird cage. The little dishes work great for feeding and the tray pulls out easily. I lined the tray with folded newspaper. I even hung the bird cage from a tree branch so they could get some sunshine. You will find Timmy will get very attached to you. (his mommy). I could tell you many stories about my Lilly duck.
Awwww Christine,,, He's adorable!! I just showed mt son all the pics and now he wants one!! Heck ... now I want one!!!! (or a dozen!!!) lol!!!!! You are a wondrful family to nurture and care for this sweet lil guy!!! Timmys gonna think you are his Mama for sure,if I were you ..I think I would think I was his Mama!! lol!!!
