Oh my, how they grow…and then some just don’t

I got Timmy housed in his new ‘pad’ on Sunday, and it didn’t take long to realize that he will have to ‘move’ again….and soon.  I pretty much knew it as soon as I put him in there.  He has at least doubled his size since I started him on ‘real food’ a few days ago.

That same day, he began jumping out of the sink and onto the counter during his ‘swimmy time’.  He tried like crazy the day before and it was not possible, but he’s growing in leaps and bounds.  He was good in the tank- got used to seeing us really quick.  I put the container in there for him to hide in if he needed to.  Now he looks for us and peeps when we leave the room.  I covered his tank top with a towel when I went to bed on Sunday- just to be safe- and uncovered it when I got home from work yesterday.  He immediately started to try to figure out how to jump out.  He’s not big enough yet, but again, it won’t be long.  I am going to have to utilize the big wire dog kennel sooner than I thought.  At least with that, I can take him out and set the whole thing down in the pond for short periods.  It will give him the chance to get used to the pond again- he hasn’t seen it since the third day of his life.   I’m trying to figure out ways to keep him safe for when we have to return him to the pond for good.  Luckily it’s right behind the garage, so he won’t be far.  He’s just too little and will be by himself- Mama has not yet returned.  I can’t stand the thought of putting him out there in a few weeks!

May2010 160     He does make quite a mess in there.  He loves his water!  I have to change his papers twice a day now.

I had forgotten how messy and stinky their pens can get in such a short amount of time!  He’s worth it, though. :-)

After work yesterday, I got home and started cleaning house.  I was so into it- which is not always the case, lol.  I started making plans to move furniture around after dinner.  At 5:00, I went to the kitchen, took out the 2 packages of Park Farms chicken sausages that I was going to cook, and opened one to put in the pan.  Calvin was standing there and had just begun to mix up a pan of brownies, and he told me they smelled funny.  My nose was kind of stuffy, so I didn’t really notice it at first, but then Hubs was coming in from the next room and he said that they were definitely bad (I took a big sniff right then and fully agreed! yuk)!  I just bought them the day before!   Then Calvin told me, ‘Uh…I forgot- I have a band concert tonight and I have to be there at 5:30’.  WHAT??  I should have figured that with there only being a week and a half left of school, that he would be having one, but it just never crossed my mind with all that they try to cram into the last 2 weeks of school.  I would have thought that at 14 years old, he would be old enough to bring papers home or remember to tell me at least a day ahead of time!  Classic Calvin.  Will HE ever grow up? lol  I know, typical teenager.  There I was, bad sausage in the pan, brownie mix half mixed, no dinner made, and not ready to go anywhere!  Needless to say, I was a little peeved.  He and I ran around and got ready to go, and his concert did not start until 6:30, so I dropped him off, ordered pizza on my way in to town, and came back to the concert- which didn’t start until almost 7 b/c the choir concert went longer than expected.  We had cold pizza for dinner.  yum.  And I called the store where I bought the sausage and will be returning it to them.  Hope they like the smell-I tied it up in the plastic grocery bag it came in and put it in a ziploc when I put it back in the fridge, but you can bet the ziploc will be coming off when I take it in to the store to return it.  I’ve never gotten bad meat from there before, but there was tons of it in the case, and I can’t imagine that I bought the one bad package out of all of it.  I really wanted to try it, so I was disappointed.  Not sure if I could stomach it now though.  What an evening.  I hate nothing more than being in the mood to get stuff done, lay out the plans, and then get derailed at the last minute.

That was my Monday.  Hope yours was better!

I Love to see pictures of Timmy..they are a lot of work and messy but don't have to worry about him waiting until the last minute to remind you of something...Maybe Timmy will grow up quicker than your son :)
